18TH CENTURY FABRICS
Adapted from 18th century textiles and drawings
"At 18 I fell in love with 18th century textiles and have always coveted beautiful fabrics, textures and pattern. It has been a passion of mine to recreate some of the most beautiful and extraordinary 18th century textile designs in 12th scale. Nearly all the designs that I have worked on are based on 18th century original patterns.
Reducing pattern to 12th scale is a challenge. What appears to look perfect on screen looks a whole lot different when printed onto cotton or silk! Not only reducing a pattern do we lose detail but the printing process denies so much of what is important in the design. However with a little bit of poetic license and a professional printer I am working to create a wonderful, eclectic range of fabrics suitable for both dress and interior.
My chosen material is Cotton Lawn. It is a gentle light weight fabric that drapes easily and is a delight to work with. However I am also currently experimenting with fines silks and very fine velvets. The collection will be forever growing and I hope eclectic. Within it you will also be able to find some not so "historical" patterns that have just caught my eye and inspired me. I hope that you enjoy the collection as it grows and develops"
